18 Children’s Centers receive food kits from the Prefecture of Chimborazo

Through the Provincial Board, the Prefecture of Chimborazo delivered 7,190 food kits to 18 Child Development Centers (CDI), which are administered in agreement with the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES), where children from homes are cared for. of scarce economic resources.

In an event held on Wednesday, August 5, 202 at the CDI “Mis Primeras Travesuras” facilities, located in the “Bonilla Abarca” neighborhood of the city of Riobamba, the president and General Director of the Provincial Board, Mariana Carrillo and Isabel Maldonado , respectively, accompanied by the head of the CDI, Luis Basrantes, and the MIES District Director, Ramiro Pontón, the symbolic delivery of the food rations was made to several parents of the children between one and three years of age, who they receive assistance and protection in comprehensive care units.

Due to the health emergency and due to the impossibility of the children attending the Centers, the authorities of the Provincial Board and the MIES decided to distribute the food rations in the homes of the infants. Each family receives four food kits.

Mariana Carrillo, president of the Board of Trustees of the Provincial Prefecture, stressed that in these times of health crisis and a difficult economic situation, the Prefecture of Chimborazo arrives with a “grain of sand” at the homes of the children of the Child Development Centers.

Luis Basantes, head of the CDI project of the Provincial Board, indicated that the food kits will be distributed in several stages.

For his part, Ramiro Pontón, MIES District Director, recalled that the authorities must be with the people, to the extent of solving their needs. “We are united, cohesive, in a cooperation between the Provincial GAD and the MIES, to provide solutions to families, for that reason I thank and congratulate the prefect, Juan Pablo Cruz and the Board of Trustees, because this solidarity work allows us to provide these social actions”, said.

Each nutritional kit contains rice, noodles, corn flour, banana flour, oil, beans, sugar, powdered chocolate, iodized salt, tuna, and powdered milk.
