The Agroveterinary Mobile Clinic continues to visit the sectors affected by the volcanic ash fall, this time it attended to 300 livestock from the Sablog Santa Marta, Sablog Rosa Inés and Sanancaguán Grande communities of the Matriz parish of the Guamote canton, applying complex B to them as vitamin reinforcement . Leonidas Lima, veterinarian of the Directorate of Productive Development, explained that, “we are injecting complex B to the animals affected by the ash fall to strengthen their defenses and help their productivity,” he commented. Within the Sustainable Livestock Project of the Productive Development Directorate, more than 120 families from the three communities will benefit. Since the beginning of the emergency, due to the activity of the Sangay volcano, the mobile agro-veterinary clinic has been made available in the territory to help livestock due to the negative effects of the ash. Cruz Illapa, president of the Sablog Santa Marta community, stated that, “it is the first time that the animals are cared for by an institution. Thanks to the Prefect of the province for remembering these communities, they have never arrived with vitamins before (…), today with the ashfall the animals need medicine to improve their health ”, he said. For his part, José Lema Chuto, representative of the Sanancaguán Grande community, said that given the current economic situation, vitamin for animals is of great help. “In Sanancaguán Grande, the damage caused by the ash is quite a lot, so this help that the Prefect has sent us is important to us. Here we live in the countryside and there is not much money and work to be able to buy vitamins, thank you very much for this help ”, he added.
