Chimborazo scene of the X edition of the Ecuadorian Film Festival “Kunturñawi 2021”

Since 2006, “Kunturñawi” (condor’s eye) has been institutionalized as the platform that promotes independent cinematographic works produced in Ecuador and the Chimborazo Prefecture, through the Directorate of Tourism, is part of this festival for a third consecutive year.

Actions have been articulated at the inter-institutional level, so that this festival consolidates itself as a showcase for national talent; There are more than 30 audiovisual works that will be presented in this X edition, in which indigenous communities, middle and higher level students participate, in scenarios such as markets and vulnerable sectors that will be screened at the national level.

Luis Falconí, president of the Tourism Management Committee of Chimborazo, participated in the press conference, where the schedule that this festival has for the province was socialized: “It is an honor for the Prefecture of Chimborazo, to support this festival (…) Through the agreement that we have signed with the Fundación Arte Nativa, we will achieve that filmmaker talent is recognized ”, he said.

Piedad Zurita, director of the Kunturñawi festival, thanked the Provincial Government for the support received: “My thanks to Dr. Juan Pablo Cruz, for all his support, for being part of this festival that aims to promote our cinema,” he said.

For his part, Hilario Naula, Director of Tourism and International Cooperation, stated that one of the milestones of the Provincial Government is to promote cultural projects: “From the beginning of this management, we have a clear route for the tourism of Chimborazo (…) that is diverse and that is achieved with the constant contribution to art and culture events ”, he indicated.

The Ecuadorian filmmaker, Jonathan Carrasco, participated in this event, in which he thanked the sum of efforts to make a project of this stature a reality. “The effort of many people is reflected in this festival, thanks to those who have added their will so that our work is present throughout the country (…)” he concluded.

The auditorium of the Provincial Government will host the X edition of the Kunturñawi Festival, with the projection of 9 cinematographic works from November 24 and online at
