Chimborazo Prefecture carries out work on the Chambo-Guano Irrigation System

The Chimborazo Prefecture, in coordination with the Irrigation Directorate, in order to provide a better service to users, carries out various works on the Chambo – Guano irrigation system.

In the first phase, the control panels for gates were automated to regulate the level of water delivered to irrigators. In the second phase, the zero tunnel is cleaned and maintained from abscissa intake 00 to tunnel 1.

These works are carried out with machinery of the institution.

Irrigation technician Alex Valente said that the works are carried out in a planned manner so as not to lack the vital liquid for the 11,000 users who benefit from this system along the 55 km that the irrigation canal runs.

“With this cleaning we guarantee that the flow that is awarded by the Secretary of Water is complete for the irrigators of the sectors: Los Ceceles, Punín, Licto, Yaruquíes, Riobamba, Langos and Los Chingazos”, said Valente.

The president of the community organization of the Chambo irrigation system, Guano-Los Chingazos, Jorge Turquina, stated, “as an organization we have coordinated with the users to be part of this work. It is satisfactory to see that this maintenance is being carried out, this guarantees the necessary flow of water to our users ”. And he thanked the prefect, Juan Pablo Cruz, for providing support to this sector.

“With this automation and the work we are doing in this irrigation canal, we will have better control for the distribution of vital liquid 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, in this way our users will have no problem watering their plots, ”said Angel Ambi, responsible for the Chambo – Guano irrigation system.
