Prefects of Chimborazo, Imbabura, Pichincha and Cotopaxi will each sign from their offices this Thursday, August 6, starting at 10 in the morning via virtual platform, an agreement for the structuring of the “Andean Consortium for Sowing and Harvesting Water.”
The purpose of this body is to work jointly in comprehensive projects for the protection of paramos ecosystems and maintain administrative structures in place to protect water.
After the signing, which will be done virtually this Thursday, August 6, 2020, an Executive Committee will be nominated to execute the project that will benefit the inhabitants of these provinces.
“This is an important event, an event that will allow the Provincial Governments to articulate in an organized and associated way to work on comprehensive projects and other activities that will be developed in the future,” said Luis Peñafiel, technician of the Directorate of Environmental Management of the Prefecture of Chimborazo.
Authorities from the Ministry of the Environment, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and the United Nations Program will participate in the virtual meeting. for Development (UNDP).
