Red Cross collected 40 pints of blood in Chimborazo Prefecture

The Chimborazo Prefecture commemorated “World Red Cross Day” with the donation of pints of blood from more than 40 officials of the institution, as an example of dedication to the humanitarian cause.

Lesly Vallejo, promoter of blood donation campaigns of the Red Cross Provincial Board of Chimborazo, said that in the context of the pandemic it has not been possible to collect the necessary pints for the province. “There has been no stoppage of accidents, that is why we are here to recover the lost volume, thanks to the predisposition and openness of the prefect and the officials for becoming heroes without a cape,” she emphasized. For his part, Gaspar Novillo, official and donor, recognized the human quality of donors, by contributing to this cause. “Excellent, because it gives us public officials the opportunity to be contributors to the health of our citizens (…) I feel happy and emotionally motivated because as public officials we contribute with our work and now help the health of other people, it is our duty and function, ”he said. The blood donation day was carried out with all the biosafety protocols and respecting the rules established to protect the health of the officials.
