The canton of Chimborazo, Alausí, is the first place recognized as “Pueblo Mágico”; due to its architecture, culture, traditions, the kindness of its people, tourism, among others, and was thus mentioned and identified by Dr. Juan Pablo Cruz, prefect of Chimborazo, who participated in the solemn session on the 200th anniversary of political independence of this canton.
The formal act was also attended by Carmen Gadvay, vice-prefect of Chimborazo, representatives of various municipalities, national, local and provincial authorities; as well as awards were given to several people who have worked hard during the pandemic.
In Alausí, the Chimborazo Prefecture has managed to articulate actions to work according to its competences, in addition to promoting reactivation in each area of the canton.
“We have worked on road maintenance, about 137 kilometers, with an investment of around 500 thousand dollars (…) and we continue working on productive development, irrigation systems, logically in tourism which is very important for Alausí, developing strategies with the Ministry of Tourism and the Mayor’s Office ”, indicated Juan Pablo Cruz, prefect of Chimborazo. And he emphasized that the articulation between authorities is the union that the province needs, even more so, at this time.
“The Mayor’s Office of the Alausí canton has been benefited, in the transfer of road competencies and it is something that they are executing, we are coordinating because we are aware that there is still much to do,” he said.
After the event, the two highest authorities of the Prefecture participated in the unveiling of a plaque for the Bicentennial of Alausí, next to the plaque that was placed 100 years ago, in addition, they toured the corridors of the public clock building where a exhibition of works of art.
