The Chimborazo Prefecture, through the Environmental Management Directorate, started the First Environmental Day for World Soil Day, which is commemorated on December 5 of each year. The schedule of virtual presentations began this Monday, November 30 and will end on Friday, December 4 with a face-to-face presentation at the Auditorium of the Prefecture of Chimborazo.
At the opening of the event, Alfredo Chuquimarca, Director of Environmental Management, motivated citizens to give greater importance to maintaining healthy ecosystems and human well-being, from training, sharing knowledge and defining the best way to conserve natural resources degraded, “we are in time to do a very important job from the areas in which we develop,” said the Environmental Director.
The progress of cooperation agreements for the implementation of strategic actions in the management and sustainable use of the soil, soil conservation, a matter of public interest; and, soil erosion, the great challenge in sustainable soil management are the topics that were discussed on the first day of the Environmental Conference.
The national and international presentations will take place on Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 December, via zoom, from 09:00 to 12:30 and are carried out with the support and sponsorship of the Consortium of Provincial Government of Ecuador CONGOPE, the Chimborazo National University UNACH, the Higher Polytechnic School of Chimborazo ESPOCH, Zamorano University, University of Huelva Spain, University of the Americas of Quito, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of the Environment and Water.
