More than 36 hectares of land are recovered in the Cacha parish with the support of the Chimborazo Prefecture

The Chimborazo Prefecture, through the Environment Directorate, inaugurated the “Comprehensive Soil Management” project for the Cacha parish, belonging to the Riobamba canton.

The objective is to execute the project in this sector, improving the water capacity and plant cover in degraded areas in the province of Chimborazo.

“Logically, if we are farmers and ranchers we must have good water and soil conditions, but we have not had either one or the other, so now we are gradually heading towards a new destination for all of you (…), this first phase is it tries to plow cancaguous soils, “said Juan Pablo Cruz, prefect of Chimborazo.

The technical team was in charge of plowing, with the help of 2 tractors, more than 36 hectares of land in Cacha. With the execution of this project, 11 communities and more than 156 families benefit.

“All of us who support and manage executions are going to continue to have results, but interest must remain with the population (…). Thank you always for your support ”, expressed Marcelo Toabanda, president of the Autonomous Decentralized Parish Government of Cacha.

After executing the plowing of the cancaguous soils, the recovery process will continue in the delivery of green manures (oats and vicia), creation of infiltration ditches and micro reservoirs for storage of water and rain, and end with the articulation of the project “Siembra por la Vida Chimborazo”, for the implementation of agroforestry systems and windbreaks for soil protection.
