Families of Cumandá are part of the productive projects of the Provincial Government

In order to promote adequate breeding and management practices for pig production, in the future to implement production units in the Guagal, Copalillo and Sacramento areas of the Cumandá canton, provincial government technicians carried out an inspection of the conditions in which they were find the 115 piglets delivered by the institution in March of this year, as part of the project “Socio-Economic Strengthening of the Families of Priority Groups”, promoted by the Provincial Board of Trustees.

During the permanent monitoring carried out by the technicians, they verify the development of the animals, in addition, they verify the spaces intended for their breeding, care and feeding.

“I feel very satisfied with the Chimborazo prefecture’s suckling pig project (…) it has been a great help and with many benefits for us farmers,” said Mario Gualpa, president of the Guagal campus. As part of the social responsibility policies that are promoted at the institutional level, the delivery of educational material is also carried out, in which the rights and duties of the priority attention groups are reflected, enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador.

Raúl Cuvi, a technician from the Provincial Board, explained that the different phases included in the suckling pig project have been completed for the benefit of the families of vulnerable people in three enclosures. “It was accomplished with the socialization of the productive socio-economic project, then with the distribution of pigs with the balanced, then with the training and promotion of the rights and duties of citizens belonging to priority groups,” he said.

The work is complemented with visits to the beneficiary families, verifying the pig farms that are in good condition and in optimal conditions, guaranteeing the normal growth of the piglets.
