Agreement signing will improve Guargallá – Licto irrigation system for more than 2 thousand users

The Chimborazo Prefecture signed an agreement with the representatives of the Guargallá – Licto Irrigation Board, for the execution of the feasibility studies and final design of the siphon number 1 of this important system, which will allow a better distribution of water for the plots.

The signing of the document was fulfilled during the commemoration ceremony when the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Irrigation System was completed; Juan Pablo Cruz, prefect of Chimborazo, expressed the permanent work that is developed in this meeting.

“We have intervened with the maintenance and repair of the entire irrigation system (…) we delivered sand, crushed gravel and cement without counterparts; with the assistance of the irrigation technicians ”, indicated Cruz.

The General Directorate of Irrigation of the Provincial Government of Chimborazo, advances with the maintenance works of gates, crossing the Ceceles river and the acquisition of construction materials for the preventive and corrective intervention of the irrigation system, for the nearly 2,000 families who use the the Licto, Pungalá, Punín, Flores and Cebadas parishes, belonging to the Riobamba and Guamote cantons, with a budget invested by the institution.

For his part, Manuel Remache, president of the Irrigation Board, recognized the work carried out by the Chimborazo Prefecture, “with the support of the authorities we continue to improve this system that for years needed to be intervened (…) so that we as farmers and farmers, let us have water for our fields ”, he affirmed.
