Chimborazo Prefecture assists with free medical care and technical assistance to affected families of Guano

Personnel of the Provincial Board of Chimborazo, carried out the survey of socio-economic information for the delivery of food rations, technical aids and free medical attention to families affected by the natural event of December 11 in Guano.

These actions were joined by the Social Management Directorates, with assistance in the Santa Anita, Santa Teresita, La Inmaculada, El Rosario parish and the Matriz de Guano neighborhoods. The work was complemented with care in general medicine, nursing, dentistry, delivery of medicines and food rations to the affected families.

“We have a team of 20 professionals in different areas that will be doing the work in the territory, with the aim of attending to each of the health needs (…) these actions will be carried out throughout the week and if it is necessary to extend the days we will do it . In addition, we arrived with food rations that were distributed to the most affected families, ”said Vinicio Chávez, Director of the Provincial Board.

For her part, Carmen Gadbay, Vice-prefect of Chimborazo, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to continue working in all affected areas. “These are difficult times that this canton is going through, but they are not alone (…) the Provincial Government is always aware of all Chimboracenses,” she said.

Blanca Mena, one of the people affected, stated that since the beginning of the emergency they have had the support of the Chimborazo Prefecture, “thanks to the machinery that entered to clear the streets that were covered in mud. (…) With the help of all the staff, friends and neighbors we were able to remove the rubble, thank you for these rations that reach our house and that we need it so much today, ”she explained.
