In order to mitigate the effects on livestock caused by the ash fall from the Sangay volcano, the Prefecture of Chimborazo delivered 4,050 kilos of molasses to more than 800 families of the communities in the Guamote canton: Chauzán San Alfonso, Chismaute Yurac Rumi, Chismaute Telán, Jatunpamba Gualipiti, San Vicente de Namzag, Tunguiza, Concepción el Molino and San Francisco de Telán.
Hilario Naula, Director of Social Management, pointed out that, “in attention to livestock producers affected by the ash fall from the Sangay Volcano, the Provincial Government acquired 20,439 kilos of molasses that were delivered to the communities of the cantons of Riobamba, Guamote, Pallatanga , Penipe and Chambo. In the next few days it will be delivered in Chunchi and Alausí ”, he pointed out.
Bovine cattle are one of the most affected by the fall of volcanic dust in the pasture, causing digestive, eye, skin and respiratory problems, “thanks to the Chimborazo Prefecture for the support with the delivery of molasses for the cattle, we hope that keep helping us, “said Lorenzo Arellano, vice president of the San Francisco de Telán community of the Guamote canton.
Another of the actions carried out by the institution is the delivery of food rations to priority attention groups, in recent days food was visited and delivered to 4 communities of the parish head of Pungalá, including the parish head, belonging to the Riobamba canton. A total of 165 food rations were delivered.
The Chimborazo Prefecture executes the works, coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) and the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES).
